Have you considered adding automation to your production line but are not sure where to start? In this blog post, we will be talking about how adding a case erector to your packaging line can help to streamline production while reducing labor costs.

What is a case erector?

Before we dive into the advantages of case erectors, let’s run through the basics of how the machine operates. A case erector is a case-forming machine that automatically forms and folds a flat box into a case. First, the cases are loaded into the magazine hopper; Eastey’s ERX-15 can load up to 200 cases at a time. Next, separators release the leading blank case where a series of vacuum suction cups hold the case in a properly formed square position. After a set of stationary flap folding bars fold both minor and major bottom flaps, the case is then transitioned, and the bottom is sealed.

Advantages of a case erector

There are several advantages of integrating a case erector into your packaging line, the first being overall increased efficiency and output. The average worker can erect and seal the bottom of three cases every minute. Eastey’s ERX-15 case erector can form and seal the bottom of cases at production rates up to 15 cases per minute. Therefore, a case erector will significantly speed up your packaging line and help get your products out the door and to the customer.

Case erectors have recently become a popular addition to many packaging lines because they form a perfect box virtually every time. The perfect box has square corners that help create support during stacking or palletizing. In addition, a strong and stable base helps to create a foundation for the weight of the boxes and helps prevent the boxes from collapsing on the production floor and during transportation. This helps keep your products from being damaged and gives your employees peace of mind while working with the pallets.

Another advantage of integrating a case erector into your packaging line is that it can be paired with other types of machinery, like a conveyor and case taper. Once the case leaves the case erector, the case can be moved along on a conveyor to be packed with the product. The case then travels along to the case taper to finish sealing the top of the case. This creates an end-of-line packing and sealing process that focuses on automation and allows the reallocation of employees to do more skilled work.
